At the end of all my yoga classes, I ask my students to bring their hands to their hearts and bow in a moment of gratitude. “Thank yourself for rising this morning,” I say, “for choosing another day, with all its challenges, and its blessings”. It is this thought that inspired the poem below.
I don’t have much else to say about it, except that I hope you enjoy it. And happy Friday. Talk soon ♡

To Choose Love
by Sarah Dittmore
In the face of these cracked
foundations and leaking pipes
and hands that kept ripping
at what was supposed to be mine
What would it mean to wake up
tomorrow?
To turn on the twinking lights
we hung because they
transform the living room
into a fairytale
To sip my tea
and walk the dog
and smile at
strangers
What would it mean to give
all of myself
to this world?
What would it mean, even in
the face of all this world
has taken from me?
Perhaps I'll never know.
Perhaps I'll try
anyway.
